An Assessment of SNPP and NOAA20 VIIRS RSB Calibration Performance in NASA SIPS Reprocessed Collection-2 L1B Data Products

Two VIIRS sensors onboard the SNPP and NOAA20 satellites have been successfully operating for over 10 4 years, respectively, providing worldwide user community with high-quality imagery radiometric measurements of land, atmosphere, cryosphere, oceans. This study provides a temporal stability calibration consistency assessment reflective solar bands using latest NASA SIPS C2 L1B products. Several independent vicarious approaches are used to examine at-sensor reflectance between two instruments. These include observations from simultaneous nadir overpasses, Libya-4 desert Dome C snow/ice sites, deep convective clouds. The impact existing band spectral differences on is accounted utilizing scene-specific hyperspectral provided by SCIAMACHY sensor ENVISAT platform. Results indicate that both reflectances stable within 1% their mission periods all bands, except few in visible range show more upward drifts at high radiances. systematically lower than 2 4% most exception short wavelength where it seen be up 7%.
